EverNotes.com is a website home to a group of apps that allows you to record anything such as ideas, things of interest, things you see or hear. This allows you to remeber and share these things with others. You can access Evernote from a cellphone, computer or mobile device. 

NiceNet.org is a non-profit website of Internet professionalsthat give their time to help out students and teachers with educational learning. It allows World-Wide-Web based conferencing, personal messaging, document sharing, scheduling and link/resource sharing to a variety of learning environments. It can be accesed from cellphone, mobile devices, and computers.

Evaluating Web Sources by Kristin

  • Accuracy- look at who is the host of the site to know whether or not it can be trusted to be accurate.
  • Authority- examine the site closely for information about the author of the information given or check for references
  • Objectivity- Check to see if the site is sponsored by an organization that would show if the information is bias.
  • Currency- Check when the page was last updated.
  • Coverage- Compare the site to other sites with similiar information to see if it has covered the topic you’re researching.

Codeacademy is a website that gives lessons on coding. Codes are used to run computers. I learned shortcuts to certain things by using codes like how to open up a new box, getting today’s date, and seeing how many characters are in my email address.

Today, our Business Information Technology class video conferenced Mrs. Roe, a woman from a different school in the district. We talked about video conferencing. I learned:

Video conferencing is the transmission of sychronized video and audio between two or more physically seperate locations.

Industries that use video conferencing are education, government, financial, health care, consumer services, and the enertaiment industry.

Scams and Hoaxes

Don’t click on videos with scandalous headlines unless from a credible site.

Don’t copy text into your browser that promises new features like a dislike button.

Don’t share posts about sick children getting money for treatment with every like on their photo unless you have researched it or know the family.

Don’t reply to unknown numbers that are offering services.

Don’t believe any text that states anything about parting with money for a prize.

Always make sure a free text service is really free

 Reputable banks would never solicit you for information.
